Dasmauja, as suggested by its name, is a cluster of ten Villages. Most of the Villagers of Dasmauja are dependent on agriculture and livestock rearing. For decades, the Villagers had been deprived of their rights to control the forest. After realising their rights they did not accept the proposal of Forest Department to adopt the Joint Forest Management (Joint Forest Management) system and instead formed their own forest governance system by the name of Maa Maninag Forest Protection committee. The system of patrolling in Dasmauja has been continuously changing over the years, thengapali and a single appointed watchman are some of the different systems implimented.
