While a part of the communities in Belposi and Mathuramandali depend on agriculture for their livelihoods most of the others depend on collection of forest resources such as fuel wood, timber, and wood for funeral fire for their livelihoods. Over the years this has led to severe depletion of the forests. In Belposi the Forest Department helped with re-planting of the forest land which the community now helps maintain and protect. In Mathuramandai the community has been protecting a small tract of khesra forest since 1970. The Village Committee and Vana Samrakshan Samiti (VSS) are the main institutions involved in protection and conservation of the CCA.
