The conservation efforts in this village began in 1964 and were somewhat successful. This didnot go for long and from 1981-1988, the forest was overused and depleted like before. In 1988, the villagers formed a forest protection committee and they also asked the women to form a committee to help them. This worked until 1996 when a serious offense occurred, and the other villagers followed this example. The villagers remain suspicious of the forest department because they believe that they will cut down their forest or the government involvement will turn their forest into a government forest. Their conservation efforts have been successful and the sal trees have grown immensely. At the time of documentation, women’s participation is lacking, and they hoped to improve this.
