This village began its conservation efforts after noticing that the timber in the forest was being extracted too quickly and this was causing the degradation of the forest. The krushak charcha mandal was the first organisation to help convince the villagers of the importance of this forest. The villagers began proper conservation efforts after 1979 and despite resistance put up by members of the village or neighbouring villages, they villagers managed to protect their forest successfully. In 1993, they joined the Joint Forest Management scheme. Since then grazing has been seriously reduced and although sheep and goats had almost disappeared from the village, they were bought again due to the government providing loans for buying goats. The importance of local empowerment has been understood, and water and forest regeneration can be seen. However, the Forest Protection Committee (FPC) needs to become a stronger body in the village. There are many future problems, but currently the forest has been regenerated successfully.
