Sheikha Jheel is an important wetland habitat that has been taken care of the villagers from the Sheikha village. The upper Gangetic canal has cut through the jheel and this has decreased the dependency of the locals on the jheel. The jheel faced issues like eutrophication due to water hyacinths, growth of water chestnuts in a significant portion, poaching and siltation. The conservation of this jheel has helped to provide the local villagers with regular resources and has helped the surrounding wildlife flourish. The relationship of the locals with the Forest Department is bad due to apathy towards poachers that have been caught and improper construction that caused siltation in the wetland. Recommendations have been given to improve the condition of this jheel but no action has been taken.
