Origin and Establishment

Describe the structure and functioning of the decision-making body.
Are women, youth, and disadvantaged sections of the society also involved in the initiative? How is their involvement ensured?

Gram sabha can be the assembly of a single village, pada or hamlet or individual settlement.
Panchayat is defined under the Panchayati Raj System.
Resource users include pastoralists, fishers and adivasis who may be part of a larger community.
JFM committee is a forest protection committee formed under the Joint Forest Management Programme.
CFR committee is a community forest resource management committee formed under the Forest Rights Act.
PESA committee is a committee formed under the Panchayat Extension to Scheduled Areas Act.
Women’s committee is any formal or informal committee formed of only women members. This may include women SHGs, Mahila Samuh etc.
Youth committee is any formal or informal youth group including Students Union.
Forest protection committee can be any informal committee set up for conservation.
Van Panchayat is as defined under the Van Panchayat Act
Council of multiple villages is where many villages collectively constitute a body for conservation.
Members of a clan/sub clan can be spread across multiple villages and panchayats.

Other Recognised Status 

Sacred groves are patches of trees that have special religious importance for the local communities. They are usually inviolate zones where hunting and logging and sometimes even collection of produce are not permitted. In most cases, communities believe in the presence of a deity within the grove. There are also ecosystems other than forests that are considered sacred by several communities.

These could include effective legal policies, help from an NGO or government programme, financial help etc.

Extraction refers to activities such as hunting, quarrying, logging or fishing by outsiders

Climate change impacts include rapidly changing temperature and precipitation patterns, sea level rise, extreme weather events, etc.
Mega-development projects include big dams, highways, solar and wind farms, mining etc.

This could include financial, legal, technical, educational and other types of support. Or it could be a need for collaborating and communicating with other CCAs.
