Panchayat is defined under the Panchayati Raj System.

JFM committee is a forest protection committee formed under the Joint Forest Management Programme.
CFR committee is a community forest resource management committee formed under the Forest Rights Act.
PESA committee is a committee formed under the Panchayat Extension to Scheduled Areas Act.
Women’s committee is any formal or informal committee formed of only women members. This may include women SHGs, Mahila Samuh etc.
Youth committee is any formal or informal youth group including Students Union.
Forest protection committee can be any informal committee set up for conservation.

Sacred groves are patches of trees that have special religious importance for the local communities. They are usually inviolate zones where hunting and logging and sometimes even collection of produce are not permitted. In most cases, communities believe in the presence of a deity within the grove. There are also ecosystems other than forests that are considered sacred by several communities.
